Roughly a third of what matters in a mouth cannot be seen with the naked eye. Decay starting between two teeth, infection at the tip of a root, bone lost to gum disease, a wisdom tooth lying sideways under the gum — none of it shows when we look, and all of it shows on an X-ray.
Our X-rays are digital. That means a much lower dose than the old film type, an image on screen within seconds, and no chemicals. We can show you the image and point at what we are talking about. That makes the conversation about treatment far more honest than a description alone.
X-rays are also the basis of any serious planning. No responsible clinic quotes for an implant without imaging the bone first, and no one should remove a lower wisdom tooth without knowing where the nerve runs.
X-rays & diagnosis: what is involved
- 1
Deciding what is needed
We take the smallest image that answers the question — a single tooth, a section, or a full jaw view.
- 2
The X-ray
It takes a few seconds, sitting in the chair. Digital sensors mean a low dose and an image straight away.
- 3
Explanation
We show you the image on screen and point out what we have found.
- 4
Plan
What we find goes into a written treatment plan with costs.
X-rays & diagnosis in Jodhpur — common questions
Are dental X-rays safe?
Dental X-rays are safe. The radiation dose from a digital dental X-ray of one tooth is very small, roughly the natural background radiation a person receives in a single day, and the American Dental Association advises taking them only when they will change treatment. Even so, Pain-Off Dental Care takes X-rays only when there is a clear reason, and chooses the smallest image that answers the question.
What is an OPG X-ray? (OPG kya hota hai?)
An OPG (orthopantomogram) is a single panoramic X-ray that shows all the teeth, both jaws, the jaw joints and the sinuses in one image. It is used to check wisdom teeth, plan braces and implants, look for cysts, and assess bone loss. Pain-Off Dental Care in Jodhpur takes OPGs in-house, in about 15 seconds.
What is an RVG X-ray?
An RVG (radiovisiography) is a digital X-ray of one or a few teeth, taken with a small sensor placed inside the mouth. The image appears on screen in seconds. It is used to check for decay between teeth, infection at the root tip and progress during a root canal, at a very low radiation dose.
What is a CBCT scan, and when is it needed?
A CBCT (cone beam CT) scan is a 3D X-ray of the jaws and teeth, used when a flat X-ray is not enough: complex implant planning, a lower wisdom tooth very close to the nerve, or jaw cysts. It gives a higher dose than a dental X-ray, so it is used only when needed. Pain-Off Dental Care refers patients to an imaging centre in Jodhpur when a CBCT is required.
How much does a dental X-ray cost in Jodhpur?
The cost of a dental X-ray in Jodhpur depends on the type: a single-tooth digital X-ray costs least and a full-mouth OPG more, and both are taken in-house at Pain-Off Dental Care in Sardarpura. A 3D CBCT scan, when needed, is done at an imaging centre and costs the most. You are told which image is needed, and why, before it is taken.
I am pregnant. Can I have a dental X-ray?
Always tell the dentist if you are pregnant. Routine dental X-rays are usually postponed until after pregnancy. When one is genuinely needed, for example to treat an infection, a dental X-ray can be taken safely with a lead apron and thyroid shield, because the beam is aimed at the mouth, far from the baby.
Are dental X-rays safe for children?
Yes, dental X-rays are safe for children when taken for a good reason, with a child-sized dose and shielding. They are used to check for hidden decay between milk teeth, see how adult teeth are developing, and plan orthodontic treatment. Children usually need X-rays less often than adults.
How often can I safely have dental X-rays?
There is no fixed safe number of dental X-rays; the rule is to take them only when the result will change treatment. For many adults that means bitewing X-rays every one to two years, and more often for people with frequent cavities or gum disease. Bring previous X-rays so they are not repeated unnecessarily.
Is a dental X-ray safe while breastfeeding?
Yes, dental X-rays are safe while breastfeeding. X-rays do not stay in the body or pass into breast milk, so there is no need to stop or delay feeding afterwards.
Can I bring X-rays taken elsewhere?
Yes, please bring them. Recent, clear X-rays taken at another clinic or imaging centre can often be used instead of taking new ones, which saves cost and avoids repeat radiation. Digital images on a phone or a CD are fine.
