Gold-medallist periodontist and oral implantologist who leads the clinic's cosmetic work — smile design, veneers and gum aesthetics.
Qualifications
- BDS, MDS — Periodontics & Oral Implantology
- Gold Medallist
- Oral implantologist
- Cosmetic dentistry and smile design
Dr Kavya Mathur is a gold-medallist periodontist: a specialist in the gums and the bone that hold your teeth in place. It is the least glamorous speciality in dentistry, but it is the one that decides whether cosmetic work lasts. Veneers on unhealthy gums fail. An implant placed in bone that is shrinking will not hold.
She leads the clinic's cosmetic and smile design work — veneers, whitening, gum contouring and the full smile makeover. Her MDS covers oral implantology as well as periodontics, so she places implants and also looks after the gums and bone they sit in.
Most cosmetic consultations here start with her checking your gum health before any treatment is discussed. If you are thinking about a smile makeover, that check is the honest place to start. Sometimes the answer is that the gums need treating first.

Treatments led by Dr Kavya
Teeth Cleaning & Scaling
Removes the hard tartar that brushing cannot remove — the single most effective treatment for bleeding gums and bad breath.
Smile Makeover & Smile Design
Veneers, whitening, gum contouring and alignment planned as one result rather than a series of separate treatments.
Teeth Whitening
Professional whitening that lifts the colour of the teeth themselves, several shades beyond what a cleaning can do.
Gum Treatment & Gum Surgery
Treats the disease that loosens teeth — from deep cleaning through to flap surgery and grafting, by an MDS periodontist.
Dental Veneers & Bonding
Thin shells bonded to the front teeth to change their shape, colour and alignment — and the cheaper bonding option, where that is enough.
Common questions
What is a periodontist, and why does it matter for cosmetic work?
A periodontist is a specialist in the gums and the bone that holds the teeth, with an MDS in that field. It matters because the gumline frames every smile, and cosmetic work built on unhealthy gums fails. Veneers on inflamed gums look wrong within a year, and implants placed in receding bone do not hold.
Will you tell me I need veneers when whitening would do?
No. Many people who come in asking for veneers only need whitening, and quite a few who ask for whitening only need a cleaning. We recommend the smallest treatment that gets you the result you want, and we say so even when it means a smaller fee.
Can I see what my smile will look like before I say yes?
Yes. For veneer and smile-design cases we do a mock-up on your own teeth, so you can see the new shape before any enamel is touched. Nobody should agree to front-tooth work based only on a description.
My gums bleed. Can I still have cosmetic treatment?
Not until the bleeding is treated. Bleeding means inflammation, and inflammation is active gum disease. Treating it first is not a delay. It is what makes the cosmetic result last.
