When most of the teeth in a jaw are gone or going, replacing them one at a time is neither affordable nor sensible. Full mouth implants work differently. Four to six implants are placed in the jawbone, and a complete fixed bridge of teeth is secured onto them. It does not come out. You clean it like your own teeth, you eat what you like, and nothing moves when you speak.
This is the treatment people mean when they search for All-on-4 or All-on-6. The number is simply how many implants hold up the full row of teeth. Four is often enough in the lower jaw, where the bone is harder. The upper jaw more often needs six, because the bone is softer and the sinus sits above the back teeth.
It is the biggest treatment in dentistry, in cost and in what it means for your life, so who does the surgery matters most here. At our clinic the implants are placed by Dr Suveet Mathur, an MDS oral and maxillofacial surgeon with a Fellowship of the Academy of Oral Implantology and a fellowship in immediate loading. Immediate loading is the technique that lets a fixed temporary set of teeth be fitted at the same appointment, so you do not spend months without teeth.
We will also tell you when you do not need it. Many people who ask about full mouth implants still have enough healthy teeth that saving them is cheaper and better. We have that conversation at the first consultation, before anybody talks about money.
Full mouth implants: what is involved
- 1
Consultation and CT scan
A scan shows the height, width and strength of your bone, and exactly where the nerve and sinus sit. Without it, nobody can give you an honest quote.
- 2
The plan
How many implants, where, whether grafting is needed, whether a temporary set can go in on the day, and the full cost in writing.
- 3
Surgery and immediate teeth
Teeth that cannot be saved are removed and the implants are placed. Where the bone allows, a fixed temporary bridge goes on the same day.
- 4
Healing
Three to six months for the bone to fuse to the implants. You wear a fixed temporary (or, where the bone does not yet allow one, a temporary denture) throughout, so you are never without teeth.
- 5
The final bridge
Once we confirm healing is complete, the permanent bridge is made and fitted — matched to your face, your bite and the shade you want.
All-on-4, All-on-6, or one implant per tooth?
These are three really different treatments, and the difference in cost between them is large. So it is worth understanding them before anyone gives you a quote.
Replacing every tooth with its own implant is by far the most expensive option, and for a full arch it is rarely the right one. A jaw does not need fourteen implants to hold fourteen teeth. Full-arch techniques exist because four to six well-placed implants can safely hold a whole row of teeth.
The scan decides which one suits you, not personal preference. All-on-4 tilts the back implants to use bone that is still solid, which often avoids grafting altogether. All-on-6 spreads the load across more implants. It is the safer choice where the upper-jaw bone is softer, or where the bite is very strong — in someone who grinds their teeth, for example.
- All-on-4 — four implants per arch, often avoids grafting, commonly used in the lower jaw
- All-on-6 — six implants per arch, more support, usually preferred for upper jaws
- Individual implants — one per tooth, the most expensive route, kept for cases that really need it
- Implant-supported denture — clips onto two or more implants, comes out for cleaning, far cheaper than a fixed bridge
What actually drives the cost
Quotes for full mouth implants vary more than for any other dental treatment, and patients comparing them are rarely comparing the same thing. Five factors explain almost all of the difference.
Ask any clinic to name the implant brand in writing. If a quote will not name it, you cannot compare it fairly. In fifteen years, when a part needs replacing, it will matter a lot whether that part is still being made.
- The implant system — established brands with long-term research and guaranteed parts cost more, and that matters over decades
- How many implants — four, six, or more per arch
- Whether bone grafting or a sinus lift is needed first, which adds both cost and months
- The material of the final bridge — acrylic, composite or zirconia, the single biggest swing in the laboratory bill
- Whether a fixed temporary set is fitted on the day of surgery
Teeth in a day — what that really means
Same-day or immediate-loading treatment means the implants and a fixed temporary bridge go in at the same appointment. You walk out with teeth. It is real, it is routine in the right case, and it is one of the true advances in implant dentistry.
What it does not mean is that treatment finishes that day. The bridge fitted on day one is a temporary. The bone still needs three to six months to fuse to the implants, and the permanent bridge is made after that. If a clinic suggests you are finished in twenty-four hours, it is describing the temporary and hoping you will not ask.
It is also not possible for everyone. Immediate loading needs the implants to be completely firm the moment they are placed, and that depends on how good the bone is. If your scan does not support it, doing it anyway risks losing the implants. So we would say no, and you would wear a temporary denture for a few months instead.
If you have been told there is not enough bone
This is the most common reason people are turned away from full-arch implants, and often it is not the end of the road. Bone shrinks once teeth have been missing for years, because nothing is pressing on it any more. So the longer you have worn a denture, the less bone there usually is.
There are several ways around it. Angled placement can use bone that is still solid without adding anything. Grafting and sinus lifts rebuild the area over several months. Where a lot of upper-jaw bone has been lost, zygomatic implants anchor into the cheekbone instead of the jaw. This is a demanding procedure that belongs with a maxillofacial surgeon, not a general implant clinic.
If another clinic has told you it cannot be done, a second opinion with a CT scan is worth having. We will give you a straight answer, even when the honest answer is that a well-made implant-supported denture would suit you better.
Looking after them
Implants do not decay. What they can get is gum disease around them, called peri-implantitis, and that is what causes them to fail. You need to clean under the bridge every day with the brushes we show you, and have it checked at the clinic a few times a year.
Smoking is the single biggest risk factor for implant failure, and it is better to say this plainly before you spend this much money. If you grind your teeth, you will need a night guard. The forces that wore your own teeth down will work on a bridge too.
Full mouth implants in Jodhpur — common questions
How much do full mouth dental implants cost in Jodhpur?
The cost of full mouth dental implants in Jodhpur depends on how many implants each arch needs, whether grafting is needed first, the implant system, and the material of the final bridge. Together these can change the price several times over. That is why we scan before we quote, not after. Message us about your situation and we will give you a realistic range before you travel.
What is the difference between All-on-4 and All-on-6?
The number of implants holding up the arch. All-on-4 uses four, with the back two tilted to use solid bone and often avoid grafting. All-on-6 uses six, which spreads the load further. It is usually preferred for upper jaws where the bone is softer or the bite is very strong. The CT scan decides which suits you, not personal preference.
Will I be without teeth at any point?
No, where the bone allows immediate loading, a fixed temporary bridge is fitted at the same appointment as the surgery. Where it does not, you wear a temporary denture while the implants heal. Either way you leave with teeth.
Will full mouth implant surgery be painful?
The surgery is done under anaesthetic, so you will not feel pain during it. Expect swelling and soreness for several days afterwards. This is more than for a single implant, because more is being done, and we give you medicine to manage it. Most patients describe the first week as uncomfortable rather than painful.
How long do full mouth implants last?
The implants themselves commonly last decades, and often for life. The bridge on top wears with use. Depending on the material, expect to repair or replace it at some point, as you would with anything used every day for twenty years. Healthy gums and not smoking are what decide how long the implants last.
I already wear a denture. Can I switch to fixed teeth?
Very often, yes, and it is one of the most life-changing treatments in dentistry — especially for a lower denture that has never stayed in place. The main question is how much bone is left after years of wearing it, and the scan answers that. If a full fixed bridge is not realistic, clipping your existing denture onto two implants costs far less and still stops it moving.
Can I pay for it in parts?
Treatment can usually be done in stages, so you pay stage by stage instead of all at once — one arch at a time, for example. What cannot be split up is the planning. The whole sequence has to be decided at the start, or later work undoes earlier work.
Why not go abroad, or to a bigger city, for this?
Some people do. But for a single arch, the saving is often smaller than it first looks once you count travel and time. The bigger issue is afterwards. Implant work needs reviews, adjustments and occasional repairs over decades, and a bridge placed a flight away is hard to look after. Having the surgeon who placed your implants twenty minutes from your house is worth more than most patients expect at the start.
What is full mouth rehabilitation?
Full mouth rehabilitation is rebuilding all or most of the teeth in both jaws together, rather than one tooth at a time. It can combine implants, crowns, bridges, root canals and gum treatment, and is planned around the bite as a whole. It suits people with many missing, broken or badly worn teeth.
Can elderly people get fixed teeth with full mouth implants?
Yes, age alone does not rule out full mouth dental implants; patients in their 70s and 80s have fixed teeth placed when their general health and bone allow. Conditions such as diabetes need to be well controlled. At Pain-Off Dental Care, Dr Suveet Mathur assesses health, bone and medicines before planning treatment.
